Realize Rights through Greater Involvement
Reaching out to mobilize people to be more involved in Rights must be matched with increasing the meaningful participation of civil society on decision making bodies. Towards this, a collective of rights advocates and health activists are beginning to press for certain key institutions to 'Open-Up' — to invite civil society and affected communities 'on board', which has proven a successful at UNAIDS, WHO, UNITAID, GFATM, etc.
Building 'stakeholding' in these institutions through accountable representation will assist good policy to become best practice on the ground, and facilitate mobilization around the issues that concern the community. Under the banner of the Community Delegation, a broad based coalition is beginning to move forward to open the doors of the 'Ivory Towers'.
